It’s time for a bonus episode, in which all four of us are joined by our good friend Naomi (aka @thewhovian_gal on Instagram), as we discuss the Season 10-adjacent Big Finish adventure The Scorchies! Join us as we talk about one of the most weird and bonkers stories to date! Oh, and did we mention that this is Don’s first Big Finish experience? Because it’s Don’s first Big Finish experience!
Along the way, Don focuses on Scorchies’ the absurdly dark back story, Naomi and Julie bond over their mutual love of Sergeant Benton (and dislike of Captain Yates), Reilly questions the mechanics behind the reversal of reversing the polarity of the neutron flow, and Anthony embarrassingly confuses two of his co-hosts. The entire crew try to figure out which Scorchie is which, and which ones are their favourites (and Reilly gets a little upset at Julie’s omission of Cool Cat).

Join us as we talk stereotypes, hippies, and charismatic computers, and (with sorrow) say goodbye to a companion that we have really grown to love.
Over the course of the episode, Anthony brings out the Welsh side of his heritage, Don imagines a version of this story where BOSS was a computerized version of Tobias Vaughn, Julie finds herself disappointed at seeing the Brigadier in a suit, and Reilly wonders whether the loudness of the Doctor’s plaid killed the giant fly. This episode, we go on a tour of the galaxy’s finest jail cells, featuring appearances from the Master! Ogrons! A few Daleks! Draconians! And future humanity’s most dictatorial regime to date! It’s a rather grim vision of the future in Frontier in Space! Join us as we keep track of the number of times that the Doctor and Jo are incarcerated, and generally despair at how so many people *on both sides* repeatedly ignore what they’re trying to say.
Over the course of the episode, Don advances his theories about the Third Doctor’s anecdotes being most nonsense, Anthony denies the possibility that General Williams could be his future descendant, Julie praises Jo’s choice of (sensible) outfit, and Reilly dreams of seeing the Ogron version of The Office! The entire crew find themselves enamoured with the world building presented in the story.

Join us as we talk budget serials, grey worlds, Holmesian double acts, monster cameos, and the Doctor’s long-awaited return to regular space-and-time adventuring!

It’s our Season 9 Big Finish bonus episode, as Anthony and Julie are joined by Reilly for his first Big Finish experience with a tale featuring spycraft, Nazis, and the occult as we discuss Operation: Hellfire, from The Third Doctor Adventures, Volume 6.

The Silurians are back, but in aquatic form! And disappointingly called Sea Devils and not Sealurians, because someone decided that they wanted to avoid further scientific inaccuracies. Disappointment over the name of the creatures aside, we spend the episode discussing The Sea Devils - a rollicking adventure that also includes everyone's favourite bearded Time Lord renegade, as well as some jaunts with the Royal Navy. What fun!
Over the course of the episode, Julie praises the fine Naval beards on display, Anthony overuses nautical puns (much to the chagrin of the rest of the team), Don takes note of the amount of food consumed in this serial, and Reilly pinpoints the moment that the Third Doctor becomes “cool.” The entire team takes note of Jo’s outfit and ponder the question of style vs. dry cleaning bills.

We’re off to an alien planet for the first time in Season 9, in The Curse of Peladon, as we head to Peladon, where there’s a bit of a kerfuffle on whether or not the planet should join the Galactic Federation. We talk politics, giant green phalluses, obvious villains not being that villainous, and the continually evolving kinder, gentler Third Doctor!

For a very special bonus episode, we are joined by our friends Diana and Jenn from the Doctor Who: On the Rocks podcast as we jump back to the Hartnell-era to discuss the recent animation of Galaxy 4! Taking a best of both worlds approach from our two shows, we kick off the episode by discussing the Penderyn “Celt” whisky, Anthony talks about the story’s journey from being lost to animation, we launch into a robust discussion about the animation, re-rate the story, and make the all-important determination of whether the story is “neat or not?”

It’s a classic tale of occult shenanigans in a small South West England village as the Master dresses up as a vicar, Benton finds himself an on-screen admirer, the Doctor goes hard on the science-vs-magic debate, and Jo is (for some bizarre reason) willing to sacrifice herself for him, even though he’s awful to her for the whole story. It can only be Season 8’s finale, The Dæmons!
During the episode, Julie’s love of Benton reaches a whole new level, Reilly espouses his admiration for Professor Horner, Don accuses the show of trying to have its cake and eat it, and Anthony gets his occult on. We also all discuss how a Sergeant Benton & Miss Hawthorne spin-off would be absolutely perfect.

Anthony, Don, Julie, and Reilly are joined by friend-of-the-podcast Alan Siler as they return to the Troughton-era to discuss the recently released animation of The Evil of the Daleks in this bonus episode, Up the Kilt!
Over the course of the episode, the team looks at the animation style, its suitability as a substitute for the missing episodes, and whether they’d watch it again. Along the way, Reilly stokes controversy by revealing that he watched the colour version(!), Julie gets to re-ignite her love for Jamie, Alan spots all the Easter Eggs, Anthony finds himself excited by the animation of the Daleks’ eyestalks, and Don tries to figure out the most convoluted method possible of watching this serial.

We’re on alien planet for the first time since The Krotons! It’s corporations vs. colonizers, with an ancient weapon of mass destruction in the background! Oh, and since its Season 8, the Master shows up, in disguise. Sort of. Whatever. It’s one of the less-loved serials of the season in Colony in Space!
During the episode, Reilly gets his lawyer on, Julie gets frustrated at the role given to Jo (or, rather, lack of role), Anthony discusses the sunk cost fallacy and its relevance to this serial, and Don has never been so happy to see a quarry. We all contemplate this serial's similarities to the very earliest serials in Doctor Who.
