Episode 21: Kembel Needs Women (Mission to the Unknown)
Tuesday Dec 03, 2019
Tuesday Dec 03, 2019
It’s time for the Watchers to cover the only Doctor Who story ever to not feature any of the main cast (and the very first standalone episode...ish) – Mission to the Unknown! With this story being another one that’s missing, the team were fortunate to be discussing this one just after the remount hit YouTube.
Along the way, Anthony is still blaming Richard Martin for things (even though this is the third story since his final involvement with the show), Julie ponders why the Daleks would lower themselves to an alliance with lesser species, Reilly announces his names for the various delegates (having decided that it’s impossible to tell which one is which from the names alone), and Don laments the incompetence of the "hero" of the episode, Marc Cory. The team wraps up with a hearty discussion on the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) remake of the episode.
For those who want to watch along with us, you can find the missing episode on narrated audio as part of The Lost TV Episodes: Collection Two through either Amazon US (https://amzn.to/30xJRe5) or Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/2Z1BZk9). Episode 20: A Fascist Version of Dusty Springfield (Galaxy Four)
Sunday Nov 17, 2019
Sunday Nov 17, 2019
The Watchers kick off their journey through Season 3 with a robust discussion of everyone’s favourite classic story of the beauty vs. the beast, Galaxy Four! This is the start of an odyssey deep into missing episode land, so be prepared for lots of talk about that over the next few episodes.
Along the way, Anthony finds ways to continue to blame Richard Martin for things (even though he was no longer involved with the show), Julie expresses disappointment over the continued grooming of Steven, Reilly compares the Rills to Jabba the Hutt, and Don complains about how Steven acts quite moronically during his time in the air lock. All through the episode, the entire team gets increasingly exasperated at the script (much like the original cast did while filming).
For those who want to watch along with us, you can find the missing episode on narrated audio as part of The Lost TV Episodes: Collection One through either Amazon US (https://amzn.to/3DSPBh2) or Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/3AUSFY1), while the surviving episode can be found on the special edition DVD of The Aztecs, which can be found through either Amazon US (https://amzn.to/2YWrfni) or Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/3voZn7F). Sunday Oct 20, 2019
Sunday Oct 20, 2019
Having spent the last nine episodes discussing each story of Season 2, the Watchers are back with a special season round-up, discussing their favourite and least favourite things from the season (such as story, director, actors, etc.), and comparing their feelings about stories at the end of the season against how they felt at the time.
Along the way, Reilly continues to rave about The Web Planet, Julie coos over Ian & Barbara’s engagement photos, Anthony complains about Richard Martin for the last time, and Don surprises everyone with the revelation that The Crusade wasn’t as bad as everyone thinks he thought it was. The entire team continues to try and find balance in their assessment of the insanity that was The Web Planet.

Episode 16: With Apologies to Alabama (The Chase)
Sunday Sep 22, 2019
Sunday Sep 22, 2019
This episode, we prepare to bid farewell to three members of the cast and crew, as our heroes jump to several different points in time and space, desperately searching for a plot. That’s right, it can only be Season 2’s The Chase!
Along the way, Reilly proclaims his love for the fourth episode with all of its horror trappings, Julie is enamoured with Ian’s dancing, Anthony reads too much into everything (again), and Don comes to the realisation that most of this story is extremely enjoyable filler. Finally, the entire team questions a lot of the production choices, both in terms of direction and costumes – Richard Martin strikes again!
For those who want to watch along with us, you can find this story in a DVD box set, along with the previous story, The Space Museum, through either Amazon US (https://amzn.to/3DVfBIJ), or through Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/3j6CP6w). Episode 15: Widow‘s Peaks vs. Eyebrows (The Space Museum)
Sunday Sep 08, 2019
Sunday Sep 08, 2019
This episode, we discuss Season 2’s The Space Museum, in all its tonal inconsistency. Along the way, Reilly is the one who brings up the music for a change, Julie gets mad at Reilly for stealing her words, Anthony reads too much into the story by drawing out themes of apartheid, and Don notes that after encountering Daleks, giant insects, and a multitude of other monsters, this is the episode that seems to make Ian lose it. The entire team find themselves amazed at how much of a great time the Doctor is having through this story (and this season in general).
For those who want to watch along with us, you can find this story in a DVD box set, along with the following story, The Chase, through either Amazon US (https://amzn.to/3DVfBIJ), or through Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/3j6CP6w). Episode 14: Barbara in Bondage (The Crusade)
Sunday Aug 18, 2019
Sunday Aug 18, 2019
This episode, we return to missing episode land, as we discuss Season 2’s The Crusade, in all its Shakespearean glory as the last “true” historical of the season. As we discuss this story, Reilly finds himself yearning for the Gospel of Barbara, Julie (as usual) enthuses over the costumes and the music, Anthony dusts off his history degree, and Don turns into Reilly for this episode. We also return to one of our tropes from our early episodes by repeatedly finding connections to Indiana Jones.
